Christian Turner, Jeff Takahashi, and Jon Lubanski make up the Toronto rock/ fuzzy pop band, Christian Punk Band. They released their new EP, “Superdown”, today. The EP features four songs named “Bang Bang”, “Revampires”, “Superdown”, and “Taki”.
In contrary to the band name, it’s not your stereotypical sounding Christian music, at all. Actually, it’s got an 80’s rock band feel with more modern sounding vocals, in my opinion.
“Superdown” is my favourite song off the album. It has a feel-good vibe to it. The smooth vocals, match perfectly to the guitars in the background. The drum beat keeps you pulled in with your head bopping. I really like the lyric “Pick up that guitar, and sing a little more”. I am reminded of times when I just feel like giving up on something when I keep up a little bit at it, it makes a huge difference.
I really enjoy the song “Revampires”. Its more upbeat than “Superdown” but doesn’t sound like another band. I can’t help but smile and do a little dance while listening to it.
If you need a feel good album, this is definitely one for that playlist.
