When: July 3rd, 2014
Where: LSPU Hall, St. John’s, NL

This was the night all of RocketRocketShip’s hometown fans were waiting for, their official homecoming/CD release show. It was definitely a lineup packed with lots of great performers.

First up was Kat McLevey who just released her Drifter EP. I’ve seen Kat play in another band before but never solo. She kept the audiences attention because the entire hall was silent while she played. She was a great opener for this show, even cracking a few jokes here and there.

Next up was Matthew Hare. He picked up the pace of the show with songs from his recent EP and his album called This Time Last Year. Like Kat, he also cracked a few jokes and kept the audience entertained.

Hear/Say are a local hip hop group. Now, hip hop isn’t usually my style but I can’t believe I’ve never seen this band before. They blew me away. I urge everyone to check them out right now.

RocketRocketShip hit the stage and played a bunch of songs from their EP Shake It Off. They even played an old favorite, Sink or Swim, and covers of Sugar We’re Goin Down (Fall Out Boy), Rude (Magic) and She Looks So Perfect (5 Seconds of Summer). During Here’s To Us they had a local dance group come out and perform with them which was a really cool and something I had never seen before. During their last song Casey, they were getting everyone to sing along at the beginning of the song then asked everyone to come closer to the stage. Now if you know me at all, you know I was out of my seat and down the stairs before the words “come closer” even left their mouths.

Overall, this was a great show and I highly recommend you check out all the acts that played.
