You may or may not of noticed that a lot of bands have been posting links to this CBC Searchlight contest on their social media pages in the past few days. That’s because voting has officially opened for Searchlight
In 2013, the contest saw just under 3000 entries from all across Canada. Following weeks of elimination rounds, Sherman Downey and the Ambiguous Case from Corner Brook, Newfoundland were crowned the winner.
The grand prize includes $20,000 worth of music equipment from Yamaha Music Canada, a professional recording from CBC Music and an opening spot on a high-profile music showcase. You can help your favorite win by simply voting for them on their CBC Music page. Voting for this current round ends on April 6th.
By voting for your favorite artist to win, you are also eligible to win some prizes from Yamaha Music Canada with 5 draws happening between March 24th and May 9th.
For the duration of this contest, I’ll be giving you a post per voting period on my favourites from the contest. Stay tuned.
I’m Tara and I’m a graphic designer from Newfoundland. I am very fortunate to live in a city where there is a ton of amazing musicians. I’ve grown very fond of the local music scene in St. John’s and some of my favorite bands are ones I’ve met through going to local shows.
