RocketRocketShip Goes On Tour

By: Tara Thompson

RocketRocketShip, a six piece pop rock band from Newfoundland, just finished up the recording stage of their new album and are ready to head out on a six month long tour with non profit organization, Live Different. Live Different is a movement to help make a positive difference in youth across the country.

Speaking with Dave Shears, bassist of RocketRocketShip, he says the band will “help in spreading the Live Different message and have the option of speaking and taking part in different conferences.” As for how they got the opportunity for the tour, “We saw an application for the tour on Sonicbids. Everything on their agenda seemed to fit what we want to do as a band perfectly.”

In the past, RocketRocketShip have only spent a short amount of time off the island with a trip to the 2013 ECMA’s in Halifax and a short maritime run with The Playdates and Harbour this past summer. The Live Different Tour starts early February and will run until May with stops as far east as Nova Scotia and as far west Manitoba, including a showcase at the 2014 ECMA’s in PEI. Dave said the band is looking forward to the big trip and “the idea of helping people across the country is definitely at the top of the list though! It’s going to be something we’ll never forget for the rest of our lives.”

I also asked about recording the new album and when we can expect to hear new music: “This album had a lot more time spent on the little things. We were more focused this time around, and we knew what the goal was. Everyone was on board from day one, and we put a lot of solid material to tape. We hope to release on iTunes in February. Since we’re on the road, the big cd release party is going to have to wait until June. But, it’s going to be awesome!”
