For this week’s Tuned In Tuesday I’m going to tell you about a CD I recently bought. The self-titled latest release from Avril Lavigne was released in November of 2013. Having several singles such as “Rock n’ Roll”, “Here’s To Never Growing Up”, and “Let Me Go”. I’ve been a fan of Avril for about as long as she’s been putting out music, but for one reason or another I haven’t listened to her much lately and I was surprised to hear this album the first time I listened to it. Some songs are absolutely phenomenal, but others aren’t really what I’ve come to expect from her. They may be great in someone’s opinion, but not in mine.
My favourite off of the album would have to be “Let Me Go”, which features her husband, lead singer of Nickleback, Chad Kroeger. Although I find it odd to have your husband feature on a song about breaking up, it’s a beautiful song and reminds me of the older Avril music. Another one I really enjoyed was “Hush Hush”; it has prominent piano in it, which I love. It’s also a slower song compared to the album.
So although I wasn’t crazy about the entire album, you should still check it out. It’s available here on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/ca/album/avril-lavigne/id709875516.

I’m a Toronto girl born and raised but have been living in Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick since 2010. Music and writing are my two passions, so what better place for me to be than a writer with Canadian Beats? I have been writing for the blog since May of 2013 and have had so many great experiences because of it. I listen to almost every kind of music but my favourites are pop rock, rock, indie, folk, and any other combinations of them. Concerts are definitely my favourite place to be, especially when you’re right against the barricade and can feel the energy from the band and the crowd, everyone singing the same lyrics and moving to the music. I also have a college degree in Business Administration and hope to one day be able to publish a novel.
