The Brilliancy is a pop/ rock band from Ontario. The band consists of Austen Leadley (Vocals), Brendan Friel (Guitar) , Rob Raco (Drums) and Bradley Merryfield (Bass).
The band worked with multi Juno Award Winning/ Grammy nominated producer, Gavin Brown and together produced the debut release for the band, which is this six song self-titled EP.
The EP starts off with one of my favourites, “Stay”. With lyrics such as, “Life ahead is vague at best, but I know I’ll be okay” and “If I lose my way, I know, I know, I know I’ll be okay, as long as you stay”. The song is the perfect mixture of upbeat fun and emotion.
The next song is just as good, in my opinion. “Can’t Take It Away” talks about being happy, and how no one can take that away from you. Followed by “Hold On” which is the slower song on the EP, which is a very emotional and inspirational song with lyrics such as “Hold on to all that you have, the right and the wrong, the good and the bad”. This song gave me goosebumps, with so much emotion in the lyrics.
I’m finding it tough to not talk about each song on the EP because they are all great. I highly recommend you go download it now, you are not going to regret it. The final song that I am going to tell you about is the last song on the EP, “With You” which was the first single from the EP, and you can tell why. It’s a great rock/ love song, that will have you singing along almost instantly.
The Brilliancy has put together a perfect EP. Each song is as good as the last, and it really leaves you wanting more from the band.
