Saturday October 26, 2013 will mark the first Strength Through Love And Books author signing and benefit concert, with all proceeds going to the Amanda Todd Legacy. The AMT legacy was founded by Carol Todd, Amanda’s mother after the tragic passing of her daughter. Amanda suffered years of bullying and took her life on October 10, 2012 a few short weeks after posting her story on youtube. Her story went viral and has opened the doors to help protect other children. With Carol as the lead advocate for anti-bullying laws and increased knowledge of teen mental health issues.
This weekend over twenty authors from around North America have come to Vancouver to do their part in raising awareness. The book signing will be held Saturday at the Sheraton Wall Center in downtown Vancouver from 12-4. Later that night popular musical artists from Vancouver will get together to do their part. Joel Stibbs, Miranda English, Chase Your Words, This Side Of Town and Jessica Lee have all come together for this amazing show. Adamm Strange from 604 recording group Fighting For Ithaca and Seamus O’Neill from 604 recording group Faber Drive will be co-hosting the show together. Carol Todd herself will be there to speak to attendees. Not only is this going to be a great evening of entertainment, but also an outlet for people to learn more about what teens today struggle with. The concert will begin at 7pm at the Tom Lee Music Hall and is open to the public of all ages.
Tickets can be purchased online at https://www.eventbrite.ca/event/8727916433 for $15 or at the door for $20.
