Albatross is a 3 piece Blues/ Hard Rock band from Cochrane, Ontario. The band was formed in the summer of 2012 consisting of Eric Vezeau (Vocals/ Bass), Johnny Linklater (Vocals/ Guitar) and Ryan Lagace (Drums/ Production).

Their new EP, “Happenstance” is now available on iTunes. The EP features four songs and right away you notice that the band has a very “Blues-like” sound. The first song is my favourite. “Evil Woman” is just over 3 minutes long and out of the four songs on the album has a pure blues feel, but with a touch of a heavier rock sound.

“Smoke & Mirrors” and “The Runaround” continue on the same track and you can tell this band does what they love and what they are good at. Whether it’s a slower song or an upbeat track, the vocals and the music go perfectly together and create a unique mixture of genres.

“The Seaside” is the final song and I absolutely love the lyrics in this song. With lines such as, “I’ve been walkin’ by the seaside, Just a’waitin’ on the tides to turn my way” and “Just waitin’ on better days, and I know , I know, I know they’re headed my way”. This is the track on the EP that I listened to the most because the lyrics really speak to you and can be interpreted in many ways.

The band did a great job choosing songs for their EP that showcase what they do best.
