Tiffany Falls is a 4 piece pop rock/ punk band out of St. Catherines, Ontario.
The band was founded in early 2013 by vocalist, Shane Bowley and guitarist, Nick Baskerville. The two of them started writing songs and jamming, and they were soon after joined by friends, Trent Smith on Bass and Brandon MacDonald on drums.
The band quickly hit the studio to record their debut single, Mirror Mirror, which has been released worldwide on all the digital websites. They are busy recording their debut EP and having fun doing so!
Keep an eye out for these guys, I’m sure you’ll see them someday soon at a city near you!
I’ve had the opportunity to do a virtual interview with the band, enjoy!
How did you guys meet each other?
TF: Shane and Nick met through Eharmony.com forming and instant friendship 🙂 Nick already knew Brandon and Trent through the local music scene and invitedthem to join the band soon after.
What is your first musical memory?
TF: As a band, it’s not the first but one of the best (and earliest) musical memories that we have is the first song that we wrote together as a band. We’re really happy with the song and the way it all came together was really special because it couldn’t have been done by one person.
Who are your musical influences?
TF: We all have our own individual influences as we all have different musical backgrounds that span a wide range. As a band our sound is heavily influenced by a lot of pop punk bands throughout the 2000s like Blink 182, Hit The Lights, Amber Pacific, All Time Low, Fall Out Boy, Go Radio, Mayday Parade etc
What can you tell us about your upcoming EP?
TF: We can’t tell you much because we want it to keep it a surprise! It’s going to be 5 or 6 songs and were hoping to release it sometime in the summer. Expect the songs to be fun, emotional and energetic. Also we’re expecting to have a guest vocalist as well but I can’t say who it is so you will just have to stay tuned 🙂
I have listened to your debut single, Mirror Mirror, what is the meaning behind the song? It seems to me like it has a pretty deep meaning. Am I right?
TF: There is a bit of a story behind the song, as it was inspired by personal experience. In short it is kind of a story about a girl who just can’t seem to find “the right guy.” She always means well but always seems to find herself in the wrong situations and is coming to realize certain things about herself while discovering herself.
Are you planning a tour in the near future?
TF: Although we do not have any current plans for a full tour, that is ultimately our goal. We want to be on the road touring and playing as often as we can. Being a new band it is kind of hard to book a full tour right away but we are in the process of booking various shows across Ontario.
Who would you like to tour with, given the chance?
TF: I think Blink 182, Fall Out Boy, Foo Fighters and Paramore would all be super rad bands to tour with. On a more realistic level we’d really like to tour with some bands that we are good friends with such as Lambs Become Lambs, Bitter Kids and Theatria, hopefully in the not too distant future. I think it’s also important to be realistic and acknowledge the fact that at any given time being offered an opportunity to tour with any other band would be amazing.
Being a newer band in the industry, how important do you find Social Media to be?
TF: Social Media is extremely important for bands new or old. As you mentioned, we are a new band and one of the main ways we can get our name out there is through social media. Today’s music industry seems to be about more than just the music, it’s about the total package and that’s a direct result of social media. You have to be on your game 100% of the time because there are so many other good bands out there. We use all sites like facebook, twitter, youtube, instagram and everything else to interact with as many people as we can. It’s something that we embrace and really enjoy doing so if you are reading this don’t be afraid to give us a shout. Find us on facebook under Tiffany Falls and Twitter @TFalls_Band
What is your current “go to” song?
TF: I don’t know if we have a “go to” song per se. At practice we will sometimes jam some pretty random stuff but one we like to do is called “Breaking and Entering” by Tonight Alive
What is something that may surprise your fans about each of you?
Shane: For me I think it would be how down to earth and social I am. Being artistic in a wide array of ways sometimes you can seem introverted but, I love to meet new people and I am always up for good conversation.
What is a lyric (other than your own) that speaks to you?
Shane: There is so many for me. Being a songwriter and the lead singer in the band I’m all about the meaning behind lyrics. There has been a lot of Death Cab for Cutie lyrics, City and Colour, Neverending White Lights, and Brand New lyrics that have stuck with me especially. I think the way that lyrics or an particular song or sound can touch you is what makes music so special and precious.
I’d like to include a THIS OR THAT section, so here goes:
Cats or Dogs?
Nick: Dogs for sure!
Trent: Pussy (cats)
Twitter or Facebook?
Hard copy CD or Digital copy?
Shane: Hard copy. Going to a record store and picking something out getting the artwork and the lyrics is really a huge part of a special experience that a lot of people don’t appreciate anymore.
Nick: CD for sure. I love supporting independent music and buying hard copies at a bands show!
Trent: Hard copy
Brandon: Hard copy
Piercings or Tattoos?
Chocolate or Peanut Butter?
