Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hey! We are a four-piece alternative rock band from Toronto called The Human Drive. Bassist/ Lead Vocalist Josh Wareham (26), Guitarist Adam Fini (23), Drummer / Vocalist  Nick Blue (27) and our newest member Jon Burkholder (30) make up The Human Drive.  Hailing from all over the GTA each member brings their own unique musical background and skills to create one unique sound and one unique goal… to bring the “balls” back to rock.

Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.

The Human Drive started almost 7 years ago with Josh and Nick jamming drum and bass and auditioning guitarist after guitarist looking for the perfect fit to complete their band. After a long search, they found Adam on Kijiji, he came out for an audition and pretty much instantaneously joined the band. We had finally found our third member and continued to jam as a 3 piece for a little over a year until we decided a fourth member would really drive forward the sound we were going for. Enter Jon Burkholder, a seven string guitarist with a devastating low end that none of us could ignore, it just worked… and damn did it sound good. Fast forward to 2018, and The Human Drive is a well-oiled machine ready to take the Toronto music scene and beyond by storm.

Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?

2018 will be a busy year for us. On January 12, 2018, we released our debut single “Mountains” on Apple Music, Spotify and Google Play. We are currently in the development stage of organizing a show with some great bands in celebration of this release. You can check our upcoming show’s as we announce them on our Instagram page at www.instagram.com/thehumandrive

We deliver a loud but calculated live show that’s sure to leave your ears ringing but we guarantee you’ll be singing along. Raw energy and passion is something we always bring to the stage without compromising performance quality, we have a few live video clips from various shows across the GTA on our Instagram page if you want a little taste!

If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?

>Our debut single “Mountains” is now available on Apple Music, Spotify and Google play and also on Youtube. It’s a driving, bass-heavy song that we feel showcases our passion and dedication to putting Canadian rock music back on the map. “Mountains” will be available on our upcoming E.P and we would categorize it as one of our more “interactive” songs featuring complex percussion, raw lyrics and an electrifying guitar solo to cap it all off.  If you like what you hear in “Mountains” you can expect our debut E.P to bring many more driving rock songs, some a little more straightforward and others interactive like Mountains, and others showcasing a softer side to The Human Drive. We are excited to release more music so stay tuned and keep an eye out on our Instagram page for more updates and a new single coming very soon!

Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?

We have always been large supporters of local music. Although not exactly comparable to our sound in terms of a musical genre we are big fans of the hard-working, and lovable band from Newmarket, Ontario “The Elwins”, 2017 was an exciting year for them and we are excited to see what 2018 brings. As for other artist’s and band’s we have always had a soft spot for Alexisonfire / City and Colour and of course the legendary and inspirational Rush for everything they have ever released into the world. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our band and we look forward to sharing more music with the Canadian music scene!
