Canadian Beats Passport – Show Review – Walk The Moon

Who: Walk The Moon
When: January 16, 2018
Where: Danforth Music Hall, Toronto ON

When it comes to great showmanship, bright multicoloured light shows and amazing tunes, Walk The Moon does not disappoint!

They brought their finesse and high impact energy to The Danforth Music Hall on Tuesday, January 16th for their Press Restart Tour. This indie electronic dance rock group, hailing from Ohio brings to the stage nothing but amazing light shows and quirky dance moves by the bands lead Nicholas Petricca.

Opening for Walk The Moon was Chicago rock group Company of Thieves. This big city indie band played a mix of songs from both of their albums Ordinary Riches and Running From A Gamble. With frontwoman Genevieve Schatz bringing her lively spirit to the stage that the audience just ate up, this band was the perfect opener for Walk The Moon.

Starting their set with the opening iconic sound snippet from “The Lion King”, Walk The Moon exploded with their song “Press Restart” off their new album What If Nothing. When frontman Nicholas made a comment about all of the political issues happening in the US, they played the song “Different Colours to help spread the word of love and unity, which I personally think stole the show with their fluorescent rainbow colours, which was followed by “Shut Up And Dance”. After their 17 song set, they blasted out with two amazing encores, one being “Anna Sun” (a personal favourite); the Danforth exploded with everyone singing word for word, we all sang and danced to our heart’s content. This show was one for the books and a fantastic start to 2018. Walk The Moon is definitely not to be missed.
