Five Questions With Unkle Adams

We recently had a chat with Regina based artist, Unkle Adams for our newest segment of Five Questions With! Now’s your chance to learn more about this Motivational Rapper & Speaker! Enjoy!

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Curtis Adams AKA “Unkle Adams” and I am a Motivational Rapper & Speaker from Regina, Saskatchewan. I have established an international fan base over the years that I am very grateful for. My stage name is “Unkle Adams” because I have a nephew that is ten days older than me. Growing up we were more like brothers than uncle and nephew and as a result of this unique situation, our friends would always call me “Uncle.” Adams is my last name so I put the two names together and added a “k” to create “Unkle Adams.” If you would like to learn more, feel free to visit www.unkleadams.com

Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.

I tend to keep it positive and write songs that carry a message. I write about a wide variety of topics including some social issues such as; bullying, fitness, climate change, self-harm, impaired driving, and more. But that’s not all I write about! I also have lots of fun songs, personal songs, pump up songs, songs with lots of emotion, Top 40 radio style songs, and much more. There is a wide variety of song content contained in my music catalogue, which consists of forty-five total songs at the time of this writing. I work with beat makers from all over the world, which gives my music the variety that I desire. All of my music can be found on Spotify, Apple Music, and all other platforms. Just search “Unkle Adams” and I will pop up.

Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?

My manager is working on setting up some shows for me in Puerto Rico at the time of this writing. They are big supporters of my music down there and I appreciate them very much. Puerto Rico has been giving my single “At Least a Million” a lot of radio play lately. It would be a pleasure to put on some shows for the Puerto Rican people. I would love to have the chance to entertain people who have been through so much turmoil with the recent hurricanes. They deserve some mental relief and entertainment! As far as my live performances, I lay it all down and purposely add special aspects into my shows so that I am not just a performer with a mic. I like to set myself apart by incorporating videos, and other aspects into my shows that stimulate the audience’s senses. I prepare for my performances with great detail and take pride in what I do, as any professional should!

If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?

“Unkle Adams – Airborne” from my “Planting Seeds” album is the song that I would suggest listening to first. It has a fast pace and lots of energy. I would rather people listen to this song first, as an introduction to my music rather than a song like “On the Inside” which I wrote to help self-harmers. Some of my songs are about my own life such as “Airborne” and “Problems”. While other songs such as “On the Inside” and “I Am Stronger” are fictional concepts designed to help people, address social issues, and provoke thought.

Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?

I’m cheering for all of the Canadian artists out there! I hope that they all “make it” and I wish those that have already “made it” continued success as they move forward. If you are a young artist reading this, remember that you can “make it” too, no matter one anyone says! If you are a truly unique then no one else can deliver the same content that you can. That is your special power. Each human being is an unrepeatable miracle with an incredible power source inside of them that is capable of turning their dreams into reality.
