Halifax’s In The Dead of Winter festival adds more acts

In The Dead of Winter Fest was founded in 2006 and is a songwriter-based music festival, which takes place in Halifax, Nova Scotia during the last weekend of January. The festival for 2018 is taking place January 18, 19 and 20th with 25 acts at The Carleton, Seahorse Tavern, The Marquee, and Good Robot Brewing Company. Earlier this week, more acts were announced!

A handful of acts have been announced for Friday the 19th at the Seahorse. Nova Scotian Reeny Smith will bring her soul/gospel sound to the festival, as well as Toronto’s Witch Prophet. Witch Prophet has roots in Africa and produces a soul and R&B sound. Peterborough, Ontario’s Nick Ferrio is also in the lineup, delivering his new 70s power-pop sound, but still mixed with his folk roots. Halifax band The State of Alaska is set to be the first performer of the night at the Seahorse. Lis “Alaska” McMillan began as a solo artist in 2011, and the band formed in 2012. Tickets for the Friday night show at the Seahorse are available here.
