Review – Rawlins Cross

EP: Rock Steady
Release Date: December 1, 2017
Genre: Celtic Rock

Rawlins Cross burst onto the East Coast music scene more than 25 years ago with their album A Turn of the Wheel, and through the years, have recorded a total of eight albums, toured extensively throughout Canada, the United States and Europe, resulting in two JUNO nominations and countless ECMA wins. With their fusion of Celtic traditional, rock and world music, Rawlins Cross never fails to electrify their faithful fans.

Rawlins Cross has become one of Canada’s most beloved Celtic rock bands. This album does not disappoint, it possesses that beautiful east coast Celtic sound that people love. Rock Steady was released today through GroudSwell Music and was co-produced by Jon Landry and Geoff Panting.

“Hold You Tonight” has a beautiful East Coast sound and keeps their distinctive consistent sound their fans love. I absolutely loved this track.

“Rock Steady” is a track we will hear a lot of, it’s a fun, classic foot stomping Celtic song that will definitely get the crowds up dancing!

“The Last Long Mile” is a beautiful song that I have listened to several times since getting this album to review. I really enjoyed the whole album but this song to me was very calming and has such beautiful instrumental music incorporated into it.

Celtic music lovers will not be disappointed by this album! It is a must listen to, for all ages. In fact, it has entered at #8 on iTunes Top 200 releases in Canada’s Singer-Songwriter chart! They will capture the hearts of many fans with this release. Being a Cape Bretoner I was extremely proud to do this review and proud of the life left in the Celtic Music I grew up on.

My name is Marianne and a music lover from Nova Scotia. I am a full time working mom of 2 beautiful girls who are full of life and love. I have an absolute passion for music and writing, I jumped at the opportunity to freelance for Canadian Beats. I love local music, I grew up in a family full of Gaelic singers in Cape Breton but I also have a passion for country and just about anything else that catches my ear. Writing gives me something of my own that is completely out of my day to day activity, it somewhat allows me to escape my everyday.
When I am not working, writing and hanging out with my husband and girls, I am running, reading or riding my horse.
