Review – DJ Brace

Album: Apatheia
Release Date: November 3, 2017
Genre: Electronica/DJ

DJ Brace is a name most of you should recognize. A former JUNO winner in 2009 for his debut record, he has gone on to become one of the world’s best composers & turntablist in Canada. With numerous albums and remixes under his belt, he released Apatheia on November 3rd to great reviews.

Myself, however, I don’t really follow much of the Electronica or EDM music world. I decided to go into this fresh and with an open mind. I even had my girlfriend listen to it with me. Overall, the best way to describe the album is ‘funky’. Every song has a great opening, a very steady middle and exits perfectly.

Each song has a nice head moving melody to them. You can see he puts time and care into each song, making not only us appreciate it, but himself in the process. “Listen to Your Heart Beat” starts the album off strong, letting you know what you’re about to get into. “Space Bubbles” gives you that relaxing feel while “She’s Burning” blasts you back to reality.

This album speaks from the heart. You can see DJ Brace has been doing this for a long time and knows exactly what to do in this field of music while staying true to himself in the process. If you are a fan of Electronica or are just in the mood for something new, I urge you to give Apatheia a listen.

My name is Carson, but I prefer to go by Crash as most of my online fanbase know me as that name. I run an up-and-coming YouTube channel based on the game Skylanders which is one of my favourite things, the next being music. I have a wide variety of music I listen to, Pop Punk and anything by Taylor Swift being my favourites. Animal obsessed and punk rock inspired, I just say what is on my mind, whatever random thoughts that may be.
