Who: Nive and The Deer Children, John Jacob Magistery
When: November 17th, 2017
Where: Le Ministère, Montreal, QC
The 3rd night of M for Montreal took place on Friday, with many venues offering performances as part of the festival. Up in the Plateau, the beautiful bank-turned-concert hall Le Ministère was no exception.
Nive and The Deer Children opened the show, with a quite unusual Inuit Indie performance, including songs about love and reindeer, on a background of kazoo and ukulele notes.
John Jacob Magistery, the headliner of the night, then took to the stage. The Montreal-based alt-folk band, which claims to “make music for people who are surviving the dream”, wowed a packed house with their beautiful dystopian sounds, and their emotionally charged lyrics.
