London, ON native, Schyler London had a chat with us about her about her debut album, Love Rebellion which is out today via Arrival Music Group, as well as her newest single, “Beautiful”. We hope you enjoy our interview and are able to find out lots more about this up-and-coming Canadian artist.

First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hey,  I’m Schyler London from London, Ontario, and I’m really excited to share my new music with you.

When did you first decide you wanted to pursue a career in music?

I started singing when I was a little girl and loved it.  I never really knew I could do music as a career until this opportunity came up.  I was in hairdressing school before this, so music wasn’t even on my radar.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has yet to hear your music?

I’m not sure I can describe the sound, but I know the feeling that I want people to have when they hear it.  I want them to see themselves in the songs, and come out of it feeling better.  So it’s an honest and relatable sound.

You are set to release your new EP, Love Rebellion on October 27 via Arrival Music Group, what can you tell us about the creation process?

It was completely new to me and it really frightened me at first.  But somehow it all came together organically and I’m pretty proud of every song.

The lead single from the album, “Beautiful”, has already been released, what made you choose this track as the first single?

Honestly, it was the first song I ever recorded, and it just happened that it was released first.

What’s the story behind “Beautiful”?

When I first met my producer, a.n.g.e.l  I gave him a voice note about an idea, and he elaborated on it and came up with the song “Beautiful.”   I wrote the first verse and he wrote the rest.  It’s a song about loving yourself and it doesn’t matter if others can’t see it.  As long as you do.

What was the highlight of the video shoot for “Beautiful”?

We shot it in Quebec City and it was really cool there.  It was my first time anywhere outside of London, so it was exciting.  The people were amazing and so nice to us. The crew and everyone involved, we just all had a really great energy.

Once you release your EP, what does the rest of 2017 look like for you?

I would say more interviews, more performances and sharing my music with new people. I want people to hear the music and get something from it.

Do you have any upcoming shows that you’d like to tell us about?

I’m performing at a fundraiser for Mental Health / Kids Help Phone, called “Let the Elephants Dance.”   I’m really excited to be a part of it.  I’m also going on an anti-bullying tour across Ontario high schools.

Last but not least, is there anything you’d like to say to your fans?

First of all, thank you.  I hope listening to the EP is as much a healing process for you, as it was for me.  Keep checking in.
