PotashCorp Country Music Week In Saskatoon: Friday, September 8 – Open Road Recordings CCMA Party

Open Road Recordings held an epic party at the Capitol Music Club on Friday afternoon. The theme – Motel Flamingo! What a getaway it was, too. The room was decorated with palm trees and pink flamingos with lots of tchotchkes to go around.

We had the chance to relax for a couple of hours and mingle with old and new friends. We got to share in some beverages and choose from nachos, chicken wings, grilled cheese sandwiches, bags of Doritos and more. The complimentary margarita was excellent, as was the grilled cheese.

But, the best part of this party was seeing the fabulous Madeline Merlo perform on stage. She opened up with her new single that has never been performed before, “Unraveling.” It’s a beautiful song and will be an instant hit. She also sang “War Paint,”  ”Whatcha Wanna Do About It” and ended with the party’s theme, “Motel Flamingo.”

“It was one hell of a time.”

Hi all. I’m Nanci Dagg. I am from Winnipeg, Manitoba, and have lived my entire life here. There is nothing I like better than supporting local artists followed by supporting Canadian artists. Although I was a classic rock gal, my go to genre is country. Something about this music that just makes me feel great. I can be found at most country music concerts and shows (from someone’s house to really large venues) taking lots of pictures. Music and photography are two of my passions. Add to this mix, writing about artists, well let’s say, life doesn’t get better than this.
