Up close and ONtour with USS (Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker)

Ontario is celebrating its sesquicentennial anniversary in style.  All year long, the province is marking 150 years with events across the province.  ONtour is a free and all ages concert series that is stopping at more than 20 communities across Ontario featuring some pretty amazing Ontario musicians.  We have the pleasure of introducing you to some of this homegrown talent with interviews leading up to their performances.

USS (Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker) will be joining River Town Saints, Courage My Love and Juan Barbosa in Huntsville on Wednesday, August 16th.  They have already set the mark high at their recent shows in Sault Ste. Marie and Barrie and we can’t wait to see them again!  You can catch up on the excitement in Barrie, here, alongside The Tea Party and Skydiggers.  For more information on their upcoming show in Huntsville, check out the official Facebook event.

I am Jason “HUMAN KEBAB” Parsons from USS (Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker)

What part of Ontario are you from and/or currently reside in?

I am originally from Stouffville, but I currently reside in High Park in downtown Toronto’s west end.

You have been selected to be a performer in the ONtour Concert Series, an event to help celebrate Ontario’s 150th Anniversary.  How does it feel to be part of this event?

When we started our band back in my parents basement in Stouffville it was always our dream to play big events around the world. To be asked to perform in celebration of our home province’s 150th birthday has far exceeded our most cherished goals. We are most proud to be Ontarian.

Ontario’s motto for many years has been, “Yours to discover”.  What is your favourite place to explore?

Exploring the Niagara Escarpment. Tobermory. The drive along Old Kingston Road and Highway 2 from Toronto to past Cornwall. You could spend the rest of your life ingesting the true beauty of our province.

Touring as a musician has likely brought you to many unique locations to dine in.  In your opinion, what is Ontario’s best kept secret to eat at?

Haugen’s in beautiful Port Perry. Salivating just thinking about it.

What is your favourite Ontario music festival or venue?

When it is promoted and organized – Edgefest in Toronto and especially when it was in Barrie. My favourite venue is Toronto’s Budweiser Stage in the summer.

There are so many talented artists who are taking part in this special tour.  Who are you excited to check out?

The Tea Party. We have twice had the honour of sharing the stage with them during this ONtour Concert Series. One of the most incredible Canadian bands live. Hands down.

Are you performing at any other music festivals this summer that you would like to tell us about?

Aside from our final appearance at ONTour in Huntsville on August 16th, we have Canalside in Buffalo, Riverfest in Elora and the CNE in Toronto.

What does the rest of 2017 look like for you?

Writing new songs and recording them and probably some more trips overseas with the band. This has already been our best and brightest year to date and it just seems to get better and better in Canada and Europe. Many more surprises to come!

Why are you proud to be an Ontarian?

Ontario is where I was born and learned about the world. This province has shaped and moulded my life experience from my humble high school beginnings in Markham to my university graduation in Peterborough and most recently my global musical escapades with USS. Here’s to many more Ontario!
