Guylaine Tanguay releases new album Mon livre vert

Guylaine Tanguay is one of Canadian country music’s hardest working women. From consistently releasing new music, to her 200 plus live performances a year Tanguay never sells her fans short of great music. Tanguay released the album, Classique Country in June 2016 and had a whirlwind summer of performances that kept her busy throughout the remainder of 2016. Bringing La Fièvre du Country (Country Fever) to life on the stage of the Cabaret du Casino of Montréal in the fall of 2016, Tanguay took the show on the road bringing both La Fièvre du Country and Classique Country to her fans one night at a time. Somehow in between promoting a brand new album, and extensive touring Tanguay has found the time to record and release a brand new studio album, Mon livre vert. Available through all major music retailors online and instore on June 9, 2017 Mon livre vert is another quality studio album from the Quebec songstress.

Composed entirely in Tanguay’s first language of French, the album covers a range of classic country standard hits and some of Tanguay’s favorite songs. From a love letter to her daughters to a hair raising French-language rendition of the iconic Kris Kristofferson song “Help Me Make It Through the Night” Tanguay does not disappoint on Mon livre vert. Vocally Tanguay is at the top of her game and able to outperform many seasoned vocalists. Tanguay and her team only enlist the best of the best when it comes to studio musicians and her live band. The talented individuals that work behind the scenes help bring Tanguay and her vocals to life through the studio, and stage. Mon livre vert is a testament to the hard work and dedication of Tanguay and her team.

One of my favorite songs on the album is “Aide-moi à passer la nuit” (Help Me Make It Through the Night). Both in French and English the song has been recorded by some mega stars; Elvis Presley, Loretta Lynn, and Claude Varade. Tanguay brings the song to life with her version and vulnerable vocal performance of the timeless tune. There is a sophisticated sound that Tanguay has produced that allows you to dive into her music and embrace the magic that was captured in the studio.

The album has a share of upbeat toe-tappers as well; “J’ai dit non” and “Lâche pas la patate” get you moving and grooving in a fun country way. Tanguay also shows off another one of her skills, yodelling. Yodelling is not an easy feat and Tanguay tears through the speakers with her impressive speed and strength as she yodels through the end of the “Lâche pas la patate” medley

With Mon livre vert out now, Tanguay is back on the road continuing along on a hot summer of tour dates, festivals, and special appearances. Tanguay is bringing along La Fièvre du CountryClassique Countryand Mon livre vert straight through until December 2017 where she will perform a special set of holiday dates in Girardville, QC. Tanguay will also appear in the Cabaret du Casino of Montréal’s show Ce n’était qu’un rêve (It Was Only a Dream) which is a 75 minute review of the great moments and musical memories that marked the musical career of Céline Dion. The show is set to run throughout September and October. La Fièvre du Country will also return to the Cabaret du Casino of Montréal in February 2018 after a successful run both as a residency and touring event. Check out the latest album Mon livre vert and if you can, catch this busy woman on the road.

Music has touched my soul since day one. Whether it is performing or sitting down with some of the biggest names in music, I can always be found sharing my profoundly tender affection of music with anyone who will listen. Being a music journalist has allowed me to expand my knowledge of music and interact with some of my biggest childhood heroes. From days of radio broadcasting to sitting back, kicking off my cowboy boots and sharing my adventures with likeminded music fans online has been nothing short of amazing. Canada is full of true musical talent and I look forward to continuing to share my adventures in music with you.
