My Spotify account hasn’t been getting much use in the last three weeks because all I’ve been listening to is Dead Reflection, the brand new album from Silverstein. I was never a huge Silverstein fan but over the last few months, I’ve been listening to them a lot more (thanks to the Lead Singer Syndrome All Access Club ?). I was pretty excited to get a chance to review this new album.

“Ghost” is the track that really starting getting me into Silverstein. When it was released last year as a stand alone single it kept coming up on my Spotify playlists so I was pretty excited when it popped up on the track listing.

Sometimes you can listen to an album over and over and you still don’t have a favourite and sometimes you know what track is your favourite within seconds. The latter was my experience with “Aquamarine”, within the first line I had goosebumps and I knew this was the one. I’m listening to it as I type this and I still get goosebumps and I’ve probably heard it 100 times. This is more pop punk than most things Silverstein have done in the past and I absolutely love it. It might even crack my top 5 favourite songs of all time.

“Demons” is not something I’d normally listen as it’s a heavier track on the album but I keep finding myself going back to it. “The Afterglow” is another track I really enjoy.

As someone with no musical bone in her body, I can’t imagine being able to write just one good song. But after 17 years and 8 albums, Silverstein are still able to pump out songs that both old fans and newcomers alike will enjoy.
