Sasktel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival announces free programming

SASKATOON – The SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival is proud to announce over 70 free shows during the 10 day Sasktel Jazz Festival, June 23 to July 2, 2017.

Artistic Director, Kevin Tobin says, “As exciting as big shows like Amanda Marshall, Serena Ryder, and Ms. Lisa Fischer and Grand Baton are, the many free shows featuring musical gems such as Le Filles De Illighdad, Haliu Mergia Trio, Delhi 2 Dublin, Oral Fuentes Reggae Band, Maurice Drouin and hundreds more local musicians, the free program showcases the tremendous talent we have right here in Saskatchewan.”

Other artists in the free line up include Reverend Raven and the Chain Smokin’ Altar Boys, Son of Dave, Tami Neilson, Blue Moon Marquee and many, many more!

New in 2017, the location of the free stage will be in Kiwanis Park North (map), which is the same site as the Meewasin Skating Rink. The new location will include a street closure along Spadina Crescent East from 22nd Street to 23rd Street providing additional space for festival fans to enjoy the music. The street closure will be in effect from Monday, June 19th to Monday, July 3rd (inclusive).

Festival fans may comb through the free, ticketed, cover, and pop-up shows on the festival website. For Facebook users the festival suggests logging in with your Facebook account and creating your own schedule! The 2017 mobile app will automatically sync created schedules with the mobile app!
