Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hey! We’re Bedroom Talk, a two piece Pop Punk/ Emo band that features members: Tyler Zanon, who also plays in the local band Air Combat, along side Cody Muraro from Parting Ways. We’re super stoked to finally start up this new project and put more content out this year.

Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.

I like to think that our music is honest. To me, that is the most import thing… Speaking on behalf of Cody and myself, we’re both fans of music that hits close to home… Lyrics that are be relatable, emotional and filled with meaning is the direction that we will try and stick to.

As far as the writing process has gone so far, (at least how it was for “Grinding Teeth”) I composed the structure of it, demoed out the musical parts and got the basis of the song going. After that, I’d show Cody what I had, he’d think of melodies and lyric ideas. We then would sit down with what we had going, write more lyrics and vocal ideas together. Overall, it went well going about writing in that style, so we’re looking forward to fleshing out more tracks like that. Already got a few ideas in the early stages right now, so we will start writing more this summer.

Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?

At the moment, not really. We do want to play at least one show near the end of the summer or the fall. We have some fill in members picked out that will help with our live set, so that will be a lot of fun to get that going eventually. I do like to think that when we do play, it will be an energetic, emotional, hard hitting performance.

If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?

Well so far, we’ve only officially released our main single “Grinding Teeth” and a song I wrote titled “Blooms” and both tracks I’m super happy with. I’d recommend listening to “Grinding Teeth” though, it will give a better idea of what is to come from us in the future.

Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?

For myself, I’m often listening to artists like Living With Lions, Confront, Seaway and Counterparts. Cody’s pretty into Pup and Youth Decay.
