PREMIERE – New single released by The Cedar Sisters

London, ON based electro-folk duo, The Cedar Sisters is made up of Jane Carmichael (The Marrieds) and Elle Hermansen. Today, we are happy to be the outlet premiering the lead single, “Wait” from their upcoming debut EP which is expected to release later this year. The vocals of these two compliment each other perfectly. I highly recommend taking a listen to “Wait”, and if you’re anything like me, you will be anxiously awaiting more from this duo.

When asked about their music, and the new single Elle and Jane shared this with us:

“Carrie Fisher once said, ‘Take your broken heart, make it into art.’ That has been the drive to write this song, among others. After being gifted a vintage autoharp a couple years ago from my parents for my birthday, I’ve mostly been inspired to write about love, longing and loss. It’s been cathartic to pen these experiences to hopefully help others who might be going through the same feelings. To be translucent about my situations has been the best therapy for me. For the record, I’m still good friends with my ex!” -Elle Hermansen

When we recorded ‘Wait’ in the studio with Matt Weston, we knew what we wanted. It was just a matter of finding the right sounds. Matt was great about being patient during the process and letting us try things that seemed crazy at first, but in context worked really well on the track. We ended up with a haunting sound that is folky and poppy at heart, but with electronic underpinnings.”Jane Carmichael
