Rock Ambleside Park: Top 5 Canadian classic rock bands you don’t want to miss!

This Summer, beautiful Ambleside Park will be the setting for 11 hard rocking Canadian bands sharing the stage over three days. From April Wine to Honeymoon Suite this is going to be one awesome weekend! Here are the 5 bands that I can’t wait to see!

  1. Prism

Vancouver’s own Prism are first to hit the stage on the final day of Rock The Park this August. Al Harlow and the boys will be bringing their unique brand of classic Canadian rock and roll to the festival and I can’t wait to see them live for the first time! It’s been 40 years since Prism released their first album and they’re still touring and going strong. “Spaceship Superstar”  is one of My favourites, and was even used as the wake up song for the Space Shuttle Discovery crew members on it’s last mission.

  1. Kenny Shields & Streetheart

Rocking their way out west from Winnipeg Manitoba, Kenny Shields & Streetheart will be performing on Friday evening, the first night of the 3 day festival. The multi talented, multi award winning band are celebrating 40 years this year and they’ve come out with a lot of hit songs along the way! “Action” “Hollywood” and “Teenage Rage” just to name a few. My favourite has to be “Miss Plaza Suite”.

  1. Platinum Blonde

New wave rockers from Toronto, Platinum Blonde, are the headliners on Friday night at Rock The Park. They released their first studio EP “Platinum Blonde” in 1983, and by 1985 they had a hit single “Crying Over You” at number 1 in the Canadian charts. The Hair may not be as crazy, and the outfits toned down a notch or two, but these guys really know how to put on a rocking show!

  1. Randy Bachman

Well you know this guy will be Takin’ Care of Business when He’s headlining Saturday night at Rock The Park! Randy Bachman is a Canadian legend and icon, well known for his heavy rock and roll guitar riffs with The Guess Who and Bachman Turner Overdrive, Bachman has also had a stellar solo career. Come and sing along to some real Canadian classic rock anthems!

  1. April Wine

At number 1 on my list is April Wine! The Nova Scotia rockers have recorded more than 20 albums since 1971, so they have an awesome catalog of hit songs to play for the crowd at Ambleside this August. 1975 brought us the album “Stand Back” and the hit song “Oowatanite” and its famous firebell intro, “Harder…Faster” came along in 1979 and featured April Wine classics “I Like to Rock” and “Say Hello”. They’re closing out the 3 day weekend and the fans will be in for a treat, guaranteed!
