Five Questions With Brittany Brodie

Ontario based country artist, Brittany Brodie is certainly no stranger to Canadian Beats. She is one of the rising Country stars that we like to keep our eyes on, as we feel she is going places. She has recently released a brand new single, “Dreaming”, which you can pick up on iTunes. Brittany has a strong, powerful voice that evokes emotion so perfectly, and this is one of the songs I would recommend you check out if you’re new to her music. We’re always happy to chat with Brittany, so when the opportunity for a Five Questions With segment came up, we jumped at the chance! Find out what she has to say below.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

I’m Brittany Brodie, a Country Music Singer-Songwriter. I have been chasing this incredible Dream of mine since I was 3 years old.

I adore fur babies of all kinds, I love Travel and Adventure and food, especially Mexican food. I’m super outgoing and would love for you all to find me on my Socials. I love meeting new people.

Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.

I have been told I’m leaning quite on the “traditional” side of Country Music. I however don’t put it inside a box, Country Music has various forms and it’s fun creating each song differently and taking it someplace unique. I don’t really have a writing “style” as I have written with different genres in mind. As for the creative processes of Writing I’m quite old fashioned some might say. I use a Notepad and Pen, and scribble and write on a few pages and then write out the final draft and later I get it typed into my Mac. I even have a special pen I write with. I feel very connected to pen and paper.

Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?

I just performed a Saturday night at The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, TN. I hopped up for one song with some friends, that was a Dream come true. I had some excellent shows while down there, I will be adding more dates to my Website so be sure to check there. I will be performing May long weekend at Sunset Speedway.

I like to chat with who I’m on stage with and get to know the audience more, interactive I suppose you would say, powerful and rich with talented musicians.

If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?

I feel right now I would say “Phoenix”. I have been getting so much incredible feedback from that song. I performed “Phoenix” at The Bluebird Cafe a week and a half ago and people were in tears and came up to me after the show unable to put their feelings into words, even a grown man thanked me and said there are a lot of us who need this song. I feel it can move mountains. From being bullied to empowerment, this song is an anthem.

Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?

I see K.D. Lang is coming back on Tour, she’s absolutely phenomenal. Maybe she needs an Opening Act?! A certain someone perhaps with my name, haha.

I also have “Starboy, The Weekend” on my iPod Gym Playlist right now. So much talent in the Canadian music scene. I’m very proud.
