Country Thunder Calgary is back for 2017 with a massive lineup

Last year saw the first time ever the Country Thunder music festival hit Calgary, Alberta, and it was a massive success. It’s no secret this city loves it’s country music, and it was about time we had a local festival dedicated to just that. Yes, of course we have the infamous Calgary Stampede, but us locals crave more! Some of us need more reasons to squeeze on those expensive cowboy boots we only pull out 10 days out of the year! Country Thunder 2016 delivered, huge acts like Tim McGraw, and Luke Bryan dazzled Prairie Winds park and the thousands of festival goers.

The 2017 lineup has already somehow exceeded all expectations of an amazing country celebration. I’m telling you, there is not much more an avid country fan would want if they assembled the list themselves. The lineup includes Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton, Thomas Rhett, Randy Houser, Dallas Smith, Old Dominion, Chase Bryant, James Barker Band, Joe Nichols, The Road Hammers, Washboard Union, The Dungarees, Ryan Hurd, High Valley, and the lone lady on the list, Terri Clark. The schedule has yet to be announced, but I’m sure there are more surprises to come.

Country Thunder Alberta takes place August 18th- 20th at Prairie Winds Park. The event is a city event, so there is no overnight camping. But don’t worry, there will be free shuttle buses for all hotel guests to and from the festival. Tickets are on sale now, and I suggest not waiting because they don’t last long. Tickets are available as General Admission, Single Day passes, or Platinum, which will get you entry to a private food and beverage area, exclusive washrooms (which if last year was any indication, is a huge bonus!) and front of stage viewing. Another great bonus is children under 12 are free in general admission with the purchase of an adult ticket. So if the Calgary Stampede left you wanting more, or you are just a huge country fan, don’t miss out on this festival, put those boots to use yet again and come shake your “Southside” ….Thomas Rhett fans, see what I did there?
