Evenko Announce Heavy Montreal hiatus for 2017

Metalheads and hard rockers across the country were left disappointed today as Evenko, the organizers of the annual Heavy Montreal festival announced that the December 8, 2016 pre-sale tickets would be for the 2018 instalment of the three day fest.

Evenko’s Vice-President Concerts and Events, Nick Farkas announced today that due to renovations at the festival site, Parc Jean-Drapeau as well as Montreal’s 375th Anniversary celebrations resulting in an increase in scheduled cultural events for the summer of 2017 both played a role in the company’s decision. Farkas went on to assure fans “We truly believe that a hiatus in 2017 before strongly returning in 2018 will ensure the festival’s sustainability as well as offer festivalgoers an edition that will make them proud.”

Fans will not be completely lost for options however as the promoter intends to bring more than one hundred shows to Montreal geared towards the city’s heavy music fans, including a recently announced performance by hair metal legends Guns N’ Roses. The band will take their Not In This Lifetime tour to Parc Jean-Drapeau on August 19th.

For those who miss out on tomorrow’s pre-sale tickets for the 2018 instalment of Heavy Montreal officially go on sale Friday December 9th at noon EST at www.heavymontreal.com.
