Review – David Shaw Trio

Album: Live at the Academy
Release Date: October 21, 2016
Genre: Jazz

The David Shaw Trio is made up of David Shaw (Vocals/ Keyboard), Marshal Herridge (Bass) and Pat Daniher (Drums). All three are top Jazz musicians from Toronto, who have won multiple awards between them.

Live at the Academy is their first album together, and the album debuted at #16 on the iTunes top 200 Jazz chart in Canada. With a mix of Jazz standards and originals, this is an album that features many styles of Jazz.  In particular I enjoyed “Blues Enigma”, a poppy jazz tune which adds a more upbeat sound, and also” Green Dolphin” which evokes a great tropical island vibe that can’t be ignored.

Lovers of Jazz will surely dig this 10 track instrumental album.

Connect with The David Shaw Trio:

I fell in love with live shows when I saw my first concert at 8 years old
and it is love affair that has been going on 42 years.

I started writing for two Canadian music magazines in order to write and photograph the great live music scene that was going on around me. I enjoy Blues, indie- rock, motown and old fashioned rock and roll from the 50s to 70s. I will go to intimate house concerts, local clubs and the way to big arenas to see good live music. When not at a show, I will be at home in my garden listening to my latest acquired album.
