Hey Rosetta! Holiday shows in St. John’s

The holiday season is quickly approaching and that means Hey Rosetta!’s annual holiday shows in St. John’s will be here in no time. Moving to the newly renovated Convention Centre, the band will be playing 3 shows, two 19+ events on Friday, December 16th and Saturday, December 17th, both at 9 PM and an all ages matinee on Saturday, December 17th starting at 3PM.  All proceeds from Saturday’s matinee show will be going to Choices for Youth, an organization that works to empower at-risk youth in St. John’s.

Tickets are available now at the Mile One Centre box office, by phone at (709) 576-7657 and online at www.sonicconcerts.com. Additional fees may apply. This show is general admission, standing room only.

“We are psyched to be doing our holiday shows at the new convention centre this year,” says Hey Rosetta! frontman, Tim Baker. “But with only two 19+ shows, we also heard some murmurings from younger fans. We’re excited to be able to move the Thursday show to the Saturday so we can play an all ages show on Saturday afternoon. We are also excited to take all of the profits from that show and to give them to Choices For Youth, such a worthy charity working with at-risk youth here in St. John’s. We’re delighted to be supporting them again this Christmas and through an all ages show, where youth can support youth, and people of all ages can have a nog-free scuffle and a sing, together in the new room, and all be home in time for supper!”

“The reality is this: 80% of the youth we work with are living in temporary shelters, couch surfing, cyclically staying with different friends and family, or are living in unsafe or overcrowded conditions,” says Sheldon Pollett, Executive Director for Choices for Youth. “Though these young people are facing incredible challenges, they are resilient, inspiring and full of potential. Our job is work with them to address their unique challenges and ultimately secure stable housing, education and employment. All of this work is made possible because of an incredible community of supporters and we are so appreciative of people, organizations and groups like Hey Rosetta! for continuing to bring attention to the issue of youth homelessness and street life in our community.”
