Interview – Lisette Xavier

I recently had the chance to have a chat with Calgary, AB based singer/songwriter, Lisette Xavier about her brand new single, “Starcrossed” which was released on May 5, 2016 on all major music platforms, as well as about her future plans and so much more. She also just premiered the official video for “Starcrossed”, so watch it now:

First off, care to introduce yourself to the readers?

I am a Calgarian singer-songwriter who loves to writes sad songs, use excessive amounts of sarcasm and eat dark chocolate.

When did you decide you wanted to pursue music as a career path?

About 4 years ago I took ‘The Leap’ as a solo artist and began pursueing music seriously. Its been a pretty wild ride ever since!

You have just released your fourth single, “Starcrossed” on May 5, how has the response been thus far?

Amazing! Its always such an interesting process to write, record, and produce a track because you listen to it non stop for months before you really get to share it with anyone. My favorite part of a release is getting feedback from listeners. So far its been really incredible; people are really connecting to the song which is the ultimate goal as a songwriter.

What can you tell us about the writing process behind “Starcrossed”?

It was quick! I was actually at a friends house just jamming out on their baby grand and the song began to take shape almost effortlessly. In less then one hour the song was completely finished; lyrics and all.

When can fans except a full album from you?

Im already working on thr followup single to Starcrossed so fans can definitely expect new music within the next couple months!

You will be going on tour in 2016/2017, what can you tell us about that?

I am planning on doing a western Canada tour this summer/fall. Dates to be announced in the coming months.

Do you have any shows lined up for the summer months?

All upcoming performances will be announced on my website lisettexavier.com

Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, who are you current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?

Off the top of my head: sam roberts, septembryo, and michael bernard fitzgerald.

Here at Canadian Beats, we like to include a portion of questions that may help your fans learn something new about you, so here goes:

What was the first album you ever purchased?

Disney classics! I have the entire collection to this day!

What was the last concert you attended as a fan?

Michael bernard fitzgerald.

What is your favourite summer activity?

Camping….bon fires and smores are my happy place.

What would we find you doing on a day off?

Laundry…never ending laundry.

What is one thing that your fans would be surprised to learn about you?

At least half of the shows I play are unpaid charity events. I make a really strong effort to give back in however I can. I dont always have a lot of money to give to great organizations, so instead I make time. There is really nothing quite as special then getting to do what you love while helping other people. I think the world needs more of that.

Last but not least, is there anything you’d like to say to your fans?

To keep sending me your thoughts and feedback! Hearing from you is the best part of making music. So after you listen to the new track make sure to leave a review or comment letting me know your thoughts.
