2015 East Coast Music Award Nominees Announced

The East Coast Music Award nominees and initial showcasing artists were announced today at a press conference in St. John’s. Rich Aucoin topped the list with six nominations followed by Jimmy Rankin with five and Radio Radio & The Trews with four nominations each.

Just a few of the names you may recognize from previous posts here are RocketRocketShip (Rising Star Recording of the Year), Neon Dreams (Electronic Recording of the Year), and SoHo Ghetto (Pop Recording of the Year).

There are two fan voted awards which you can head to www.thetelegram.com to vote for up until March 16th.

If you’re wondering how regions squared up against each other, Nova Scotia leads with 101 total nominations, followed by Newfoundland and Labrador will 35, New Brunswick with 31, Cap Breton with 24 and PEI with 13.

Jonny Harris will be hosting the awards gala on Thursday, April 9 at the Jack Byrne Arena in Torbay, NL. The gala is broadcast in HD by Eastlink nationwide on their TV anywhere platform Eastlink To Go and OnDemand at 8pm NL. Artists performing include Neon Dreams, Les Hôtesses d’Hilaire, Amelia Curran, Shanneyganock, Ennis, Catherine MacLellan and Coig.

Some of the initial showcasing artists include Another North, RocketRocketShip, In-Flight Safety, Mo Kenney, The Secrets, Fortunate Ones, Matthew Hornell, Paper Lions and many more.
