Vancouver’s The Tourist Company is a progressive folk-rock band consisting of Taylor Swindells (Vocals, guitar and trumpet), Jillian Levey (Vocals, glockenspiel, keys, and percussion), Brenon Parry (Drums and percussion), and Josué Quezada (Vocals, bass, drums, and percussion). They will be embarking on summer tour dates in western Canada. On May 6, 2014, they released their second release, an EP, containing four tracks.

The lead single on “Space Race” is entitled “Irrepressible Future.” The instrumentals are very intriguing to me. The verses are slower while the chorus is at a faster pace. When listening to “Vostok 1” a couple of times, I found myself singing along to the chorus. With “They’ve Got Us On Our Heels,” it is the slowest paced track on the EP. I really enjoyed the blend of female/male vocals. The song that I enjoyed the most, was “One Giant Leap.” It is a song you can dance to.

Overall, the tracks presented on “Space Race” are written and performed well. The instrumentals and vocals simply tie in together. Each track is unique. I highly recommend checking out “Space Race” by The Tourist Company.
