The Trews are back with a new self titled studio album. The rockers are based in Toronto, but their roots are from the east coast town of Antigonish, Nova Scotia. With two EPs and 5 other studio albums, this band keeps busy, but never ceases to impress fans all over. The rockers of The Trews are Colin MacDonald, John-Angus MacDonald, Jack Syperek and Sean Dalton.

The album has a bit of a different sound than the older Trews albums, but you can still tell it’s their music. It has an older rock feel to it. It also has a more raw sound than the majority of music these days.

The songs I really like off this album are “Age of Miracles”, “In the Morning (Featuring Serena Ryder)” and the album opener, “Rise in the Wake”. Each of these songs brings a different feel to the album and definitely stands out. And my favourite parts of the songs are definitely the intricate guitar playing and the soft singing.

Rating: 4.5/5
