Throwback Thursday – These Kids Wear Crowns

By: Tara Thompson

Heading back to Much Music in 2010, you may remember a show called Disband that had success stories like Abandon All Ships, San Sebastian, Stereos and our throwback Thursday pick this week, These Kids Wear Crowns.

“Break It Up” was the first single from Chilliwack based band These Kids Wear Crowns. After it’s debut in 2010, it reached number 60 on the Canadian Hot 100 charts.

The band has since played with acts such as Faber Drive, Hedley, Lights, Good Charlotte, Forever The Sickest Kids and Simple Plan. They have even ventured overseas to both Singapore and Australia.

Lately, the band has been keeping quiet but a second album is in the works and the band even tweeted that the first single from that album as been picked.

I’m Tara and I’m a graphic designer from Newfoundland. In 2004, I found out who Hedley were are they became my first favorite band and 11 years later they still have that top spot for me. I am very fortunate to live in a city where there is a ton of amazing musicians. I’ve grown very fond of the local music scene in St. John’s and some of my favorite bands are ones I’ve met through going to local shows.
