Nova Scotia rapper, Classified, has recently released a video for his second single off of his latest record, ‘Classified’. “3 Foot Tall” is, in my opinion, a song about bullying and judging others. This seems to fit with the latest song and message from American rapper, Macklemore and his song “Same Love” about judging others and bullying them until they feel like they don’t deserve to live anymore.

“When you’re alone life can be a little rough, it can make you feel like you’re three foot tall. When it’s just you, the times can be tough, when there’s no one there to catch your fall.”

Many artists have been making songs about bullying, and for good reason. It has gone way out of control with the use of anonymity on social media. It needs to be stopped, and it needs to be stopped now. The world has changed immensely over the last few years; equality has been recognized and is being fought for. Making fun of each other, even just as fun, can make someone feel so low and small and creates emotional scars that may be carried on through life.

With this video, I believe that Classified is doing his part in trying to help get rid of bullying. You can see words it the background of his video with varying degrees of hatred – anything from loser and ugly to gay and coward. The message in his latest video needs to be heard and listened to. It’s 2013. There is no need for bullying and hatred anymore.

I’m a Toronto girl born and raised but have been living in Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick since 2010. Music and writing are my two passions, so what better place for me to be than a writer with Canadian Beats? I have been writing for the blog since May of 2013 and have had so many great experiences because of it. I listen to almost every kind of music but my favourites are pop rock, rock, indie, folk, and any other combinations of them. Concerts are definitely my favourite place to be, especially when you’re right against the barricade and can feel the energy from the band and the crowd, everyone singing the same lyrics and moving to the music. I also have a college degree in Business Administration and hope to one day be able to publish a novel.
