The Trews, a Canadian hard rock band from Antigonish, Nova Scotia played a show on George’s Island for the Smirnoff Red Door Island Party this past Sunday. The band, consisting of Colin MacDonald (Vocals), John-Angus MacDonald (Guitar), Jack Syperek (Bass) and Sean Dalton (Drums) hit the stage at around 3:30 pm to a capacity crowd of about 2000 people.

They played with enthusiasm both old favourites like Hollis & Morris and Tired of Waiting through their repertoire to the newer ones such as Hope & Ruin and their amazing single Highway of Heroes.  The crowd sang along to Colin’s prompting and were rewarded with some serious jamming from John-Angus’ guitar solo midway through the show.

The historic atmosphere and small crowd gave an intimate feel to the show, as did the interaction of the band with the crowd.  We were treated to a full 90 minute set including encore and from what I saw, no one left disappointed!
