Review – Day Drunk

By: Jenna Melanson

The Stories We Tell EP – Day Drunk
Release Date – July 29, 2013
Genre – Alt Rock
Label – Unsigned

Day Drunk is a 3 piece alt-rock band from Hamilton, Ontario. The band consists of Jordan Hallin (Vocals/ Guitar), Rhett Amin (Bass) and Marty Vandenberk (Drums).

Their EP features three songs, all of which show the listener that they are all about raw alternative rock. Jordan’s vocals give that “classic rock” gritty and raw feeling at times, which is nice to hear.

My favourite of the three tracks is the first on the EP, “Love Letters”, with lyrics such as “When I look in your eyes, I’m lost, never to be found”. The rest of the band has a strong sound, and all the songs have a great beat.

I would say, all in all, the EP could stand to show a bit more versatility of the band, but it’s a good start, and I would like to hear more. I am convinced by just listening to the EP that this band knows how to put on a live show and have lots of fun doing so!

Rating: 3/5
