Throwback Thursday – soulDecision

By: Warren Gordon

Everyone around in the early 2000s remembers soulDecision, right? Well, if you don’t, here’s a little bit about the group.

Hailing from Vancouver, British Columbia, the band hit mainstream success with the release of their album “No One Does It Better.” The group came out of the 90s boy band craze, but what made them different was their originality.

soulDecision was considered very different from other pop bands as they wrote all of their own material and played their own instruments.

Today’s Throwback Thursday song is “Faded” which was their first major single in Canada. The success of “Faded” was followed by “Ooh It’s Kinda Crazy” which did not achieve as much praise as their previous single.

The group consisted of Trevor Guthrie, David Bowman, Ken Lewko, James Reid and Adam Stillman. soulDecision disbanded in 2005 when Trevor Guthrie decided to pursue a solo career.

Guthrie’s solo career could have been considered a flop as he had yet to be heard of. That is until 2013, when Guthrie found himself as a featured artist on Armin van Buuren’s track “This is What It Feels Like.”
