Fan Lyric Post (Part One)

I decided a few weeks ago that I had so much fun with the Fan blog I did about band inspired tattoos, that I wanted to do more, so I found a group of fans who were interested in being part of my new post and the time has come to reveal it.

I asked them to pick a lyric that means a lot to them, or has helped them through a rough time. The mission was to take a photo of themselves holding up a sign with that lyric on it, and then also explaining why they chose that specific lyric.

First off was Ally ( @13KeekyGirl )

Ally’s reasoning behind choosing this lyric:

“This lyric is from the song Closest To My Heart by Keek. This band has honestly helped me through so much in my life over the past two years. I met them through twitter when the band account started to follow me on January 24th 2011. No matter how bad of a day I am having, the guys in this band can always make me smile again and feel better. They live in Ottawa and I live in Newfoundland, so we haven’t been able to meet yet due to the long distance between us, but no matter how far, those guys will always be the closest to my heart. <3

If you haven’t heard of Keek before, I definitely think you should check them out! You won’t regret it I promise, and they love hearing from people who enjoy their music! If you have twitter, give the band account and their personal accounts a follow as well! 🙂 @keekmusic @conorkeek @marekkeek @mattkeek @pearcekeek @willykeek @geoffkeek”

Next in line was Alex ( @halfwaytoalex )

Her explanation for the lyric she chose:

“The lyric is from One Life by Hedley. This helped me through a time where I felt neither alive, nor dead. I was at a very low time in my life, with friends, and family. Music has always helped me get through things, even from a young age. I was so unhappy, doing so much for other people that I wasn’t actually living. I closed myself off and became even more unhappy. But this amazing band’s song helped me realize that I can never stop doing the things I love, and to live my life to the fullest.”

Next was Krista ( @ kristalafraugh )

She explained why she chose this lyric:

“I can’t say that they have saved my life, but no doubt they have changed it. I’m a better person with them, I have more confidence and everything starts to make sense when I listen to them. These specific lyrics are just some of many  that have helped me. To me these lyrics prove that no one is perfect, everyone loses grip of themselves, their morals, their lives, but everything will always get better. Its how we learn to deal with things differently, failure. People who may seem so flawless and put together may be the same people in a deep depression. Its not only taught me so much about myself, but also taught me so much about other people. I love this band and I couldn’t imagine life without them or their music.”

One thing you are going to notice about this post is a lot of people chose Marianas Trench, I can see by this that their music has helped many of their fans. That’s great to see.

One of the Canadian Beats writers, Yanna ( @yanna_brien ) also was stoked to take part.

“The lyrics I used in the picture are, “I could take it if you need to take this out on someone,” and they are taken from the song Say Anything by Marianas Trench.

Marianas Trench is the first band I fell in love with and I could have used any number of their lyrics because they all mean so much to me but these few words are what always help me the most. These lyrics have helped me through a few dark times and they mean, to me, that I am never alone. That I don’t have to keep everything bottled up inside and it is okay to let everything go once in a while. They remind me that I do have friends and family that are there for me and I don’t ever have to be by myself.””

Next was another one of the Canadian Beats writers, Amanda ( @amandahather ) who chose a lyric from her favorite band, Marianas Trench.

“These lyrics are from Beside You by Marianas Trench. They mean a lot to me because at the time Masterpiece Theatre came out, I was going through a really hard time in my life. I was only 15 years old and I had just lost my father to cancer. I felt lost, incomplete, depressed. Who wouldn’t? My dad and I were close. But, when I heard this song, I knew that some part of him would always be with me, no matter what. So I began to pick up where I left of and tried to be happy again. 4 years later, I finally am.”

Heather ( @Heatherlikescats ) also chose a lyric from Marianas Trench.

“The song skin and bones has helped me with my struggles with Bulimia and Anorexia. I used to think I had to be a size 0 to be beautiful. The Song helped me so much. It proved to me I don’t need to be a size 0 to be beautiful. I had to be me. That’s what counted. Eating disorders Take over and destroy you. When I was hospitalized for a month, this song saved me. It’s the most amazing song ever.”

Morgan ( @halfwaytomorgan ) first chose a line from Shake Tramp that I didn’t want to post, due to language, I’m sure if you are a Marianas Trench fan, you know exactly which line I mean, so keep that in mind, but she chose this one instead;

“The song that means the most to me is Shake Tramp by Marianas Trench. This song means a lot to me because even though the lyrics aren’t meaningful, the song never fails to cheer me up and make my bad days better. Another reason why Shake Tramp means so much to me is because Marianas Trench are my favourite band and their music is always there for me.”

Last but not least, is Lizzie ( @Fizzie_LizzieFD ) who chose a lyric from one of my current favorite songs, Somebody to Someone by Halfway to Hollywood.

Here is the reason she gave for choosing this lyric:

“This is my lyrics from the song “somebody to someone” by Halfway to Hollywood. This song means a lot to me because I went thru a really bad break up an I felt worthless and I didn’t belong anymore but then I heard this song and after listening to it over and over again it made me feel like there are people out there that love me and I’m worth a lot to them 🙂 thank you HTH”

I’d like to thank everyone who took part in this post, and I hope to do another in the future. I think the bands that are mentioned, will enjoy reading how their music has helped their fans through tough times, and made an impact in their lives.
